ian is a systems engineer with over a decade of experience building and managing distributed infrastructure. He takes a particular focus on the ethical and social aspects of what he is building, and is passionate about building technical tools and standards that help communities and individuals manage and share their data in a way that promotes consent and autonomy. How can the principles of living systems be used to design a better web? In this session we’ll present some basic ecological principles that govern living systems, and then break into small groups to brainstorm together how those principles can be practically applied to building software that better supports rooted, flourishing, living systems.
