We'll also test out equipment and internet connection, and ensure you feel ready to demo tomorrow!

Centralised systems were designed with the best of intentions, but were turned against us anyway. And peer-to-peer systems will be exactly the same.

How do we make the next generation of protocols more difficult to weaponise?

This is the lens which we'll use to look at Willow, a family of publicly-funded, open source peer-to-peer protocols. How can we learn from the ways both centralised and peer-to-peer systems have been abused in the past, and apply that to new designs? We'll take a look at some of the (surprising) paths Willow has taken to make it harder to turn against us.

The sneakerweb is a parallel web where data is transported by physical media.

In this workshop, participants will install the sneakerweb tool on their own machines, create a domain, publish their own website to it, and swap sites with each other.

The sneakerweb is powered by Willow, the Meadowcap capability system, and Willow's Drop Format (https://willowprotocol.org).

This talk invites three representatives from large social networks to discuss how they view the future of P2P from a broad range of expertise in the field of social networks and peer-2-peer. Daniel Holmgren from Bluesky, Matthew Hodgson from Matrix, Adz from P2Panda and Christine Lemmer-Webber from Spritely and ActivityPub.

The session will be moderated by Sammy from the Willow protocol.

There will be a space for interactive questions from audience participation.
