DWeb Camp 2026

Learn Basic Bicycle Maintenance Skills
2026-07-09 , Teen Base Camp

Alte Holle has a lot of broken bikes and parts. We will get some of them running, and make fun things out of some of them - maybe some art or another vehicle - we might even fix things in this class! :)

Fixing things for other people is an act of love and it earns smiles, helps keep trash out of our communities, and saves people who cannot afford to buy new things a lot of money and heartache, and generally diminishes the markets for newly made crap we don't need. Learn from people who love to fix things (not bike mechanics, but handy folk) to fix bicycle-like things. We will try to fix some things, to the extent that there are fixable things, and if we don't, we can have fun making bike art sculptures. I mean, we'll try to save some broken stuff for this class, but I don't know, we like to fix things - and we get to camp early - we might just fix all the stuff before class, then have to break something for you - we'll have to see how it goes. But either way we are going to have fun with it. If the class is super-nerdy, we can talk about how to debug anything - there are universal rubri. See you there! :)

Rich has been working since 2021 to make Social Network Health approaches to preventative mental health care easier to understand and implement. Social Network Health is the study of how relationships in communities effect everything from general mental health to productivity, to suicidal ideation.

Since the last dweb camp, Rich shifted focus from educational applications of social network health to studying remote workers, and building local-first applications.

He is also a co-founder of spacebase.co, whose goal is to democratize access to space, and the Global Space Enablers Network, and works with a number of other NZ startups as a technical problem solver.

He lives on waiheke island with his wife Cindy, and his 3.5 year old daughter Skylark, who are also avid attendees of dweb camp. :)
