In the late 1990s, governments mandated phone number portability, breaking telecom monopolies and sparking a wave of market competition. Today, the email address has replaced the phone number as our primary digital identity. Yet, consumers are trapped. Because changing an email address across hundreds of banks, healthcare providers, and retail accounts is practically impossible, dominant tech companies (Google, Microsoft, Apple) enjoy an anti-competitive "monopoly of convenience.". I am part of a group aiming to solve this by pushing for legislation around the world. Join me to hear about the plan and offer your thoughts on this issue.
