ATdojo - Retro Game Matchmaking & Replay Sharing on AT Protocol
2026-07-10 , Open Social Space

What does retro game matchmaking and game session sharing look like in the Atmosphere? Lessons from hacking on the AT protocol with Dojo Lobby, a matchmaking platform for emulated Sega Dreamcast and Model 3 games online.

The retro fighting game community is a mix of tournament organizers, game preservationists, coders, and artists often operating on their own keeping the spirit of old games alive.

With the game industry in the state it is in, how can we keep the lights on when these services go under? Can we make the online matchmaking experience better?

ATdojo introduces community game session planning and replay sharing to Dojo Lobby, a matchmaking platform for emulated Sega Dreamcast and Model 3 games online.

This talk explores the design and implementation of Dojo Lobby, how it integrates with the AT protocol, and how we can expand this to preserve the communities around games that are often left neglected by their creators.

Based in Helsinki, formerly based in NorCal. Security tools engineer by day, hobbyist emulation developer by night. Author of the Dojo Lobby matchmaking platform, Flycast Dojo & Supermodel Dojo emulator forks for netplay and training for the fighting game community.
