Do you care about civic infrastructure to keep human voices from being drowned out by AI slopaganda and bot disinformation?
Help us think through digital-physical infrastructure (think "speakers' corner") to collect community perspectives, certify community membership & "proof of humanity", with the ultimate goal to amplify the collective voice.
Do you care about infrastructure to keep human voices from being drowned out by AI slopaganda and bot disinformation?
As part of the EU´s DDC (Digital Democratic Commons) project, our team is prototyping and testing a physical-digital portal and IRL installation to support bespoke news content. We're ideating on IRL ´speakers corner´ style video recording booths set up at community third spaces paired with interactive presence based digital spaces with the goal is to create a privacy conscious soapbox to collect community perspectives and polling, towards a shared voice.
Our news content has been preselected (under DDC project mandate) to focus on how AI affects marginalized communities across the EU and will be available both digitally (via our clearnet web portal), and IRL installations.
The installations serve as certifiers of community membership and 'proof of humanity'. Participants can view content, submit polling inputs on various issues, and submit videos recorded using our booth setups, with the option to use AI avatars to ensure privacy by modifying appearance and voice (default opt in).
Videos recorded in this way will be presented digitally as the "voices of a community", an open unstructured dataset serving as a snapshot of democratic participation. We are debating the pros and cons of reposting this all to existing media channels i.e. social media ... we have many undecided governance challenges around collective voice.
We welcome input on all aspects of our prototype design as we continue this phase of discovery. We especially welcome support on our privacy, security and identity models. SMEs of all tribes, please help us make this better, for the people!
